Wildwoods to host Restaurant Week after Thanksgiving

Dogtooth Bar & Grill has been participating in Wildwoods Restaurant Week since 2018. “Guests always look forward to the event, especially for the value of a three-course menu for $40,” said Ply Sirirat, the special events and catering manager for MudHen Brewing Company, which owns Dogtooth.

WILDWOOD — For those who didn’t eat their fill of Thanksgiving turkey, the Wildwoods have you covered.

Wildwoods Restaurant Week, presented by the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce, returned Friday and will run through Dec. 8.

A handful of the island’s top restaurants — including some reopening just for the event — will participate. For $40 per person, plus tax and tip, diners can order from a three-course prix fixe menu, from Italian to seafood and everything in between.

Ten restaurants are participating in this year’s event, with three more offering gift cards/certificates to be used when they open for the season in 2025. For a complete list, visit wildwoodsrestaurantweek.com or call 609-729-4000.

The Anglesea Pub at 116 W. First Ave. in North Wildwood is participating in Wildwoods Restaurant Week for the second year, said Deborah McMullan, who has owned the pub since 2020.

As Jersey Shore restaurants hunker down for a long offseason — some closing until the spring — Restaurant Week doesn’t just offer local foodies a fun night out during the holidays.

“The offseason is certainly tougher, but the Restaurant Week certainly comes in as a benefit to a slow season producing new business,” said Al Hiller, whose Waterfront at 4415 Park Blvd. in Wildwood is participating for a second year.
Open year-round, Waterfront’s appetizers will include Reuben egg rolls and buffalo cauliflower bites, entrée options from seafood to steak to pasta, and an assortment of desserts.
“We created a menu we feel will appeal to many customers based on an eclectic mix of some of our favorite items,” Hiller said.
The Anglesea Pub at 116 W. First Ave. in North Wildwood is also participating for the second year, said Deborah McMullan, who has owned the pub since 2020.
Anglesea is offering jumbo shrimp cocktails, eggplant stacks, French onion soup, macaroni and cheese and burrata, and a roasted beet salad as its appetizer options. Entrees will include the seafood combo, prime rib and butternut squash ravioli. Their dessert options include carrot cake, apple crumble, cheesecake and Irish bread pudding.
“This is the perfect time of year for this event,” McMullan said. “It gives our regulars a little more for their money and the opportunity for new customers to give us a try.”

MudHen Brewing Company at 127 W. Rio Grande Ave., the main road entering Wildwood, and sister establishment Dogtooth Bar & Grill at nearby 100 E. Taylor Ave. have been participating in Restaurant Week since their openings in 2018. Poppi’s Brick Oven Kitchen at 4709 New Jersey Ave. is another MudHen property participating.

“Restaurant Week during the offseason is a great opportunity to bring out more locals and boost revenue,” said Ply Sirirat, the special events and catering manager for MudHen. “Guests always look forward to the event, especially for the value of a three-course menu for $40.”
Dogtooth’s menu will include appetizer options of butternut squash soup, southwest egg rolls and breaded shrimp. Entrees include pork chop piccata and halibut in a lemon caper cream sauce. For dessert, diners can choose between sweet potato maple cheesecake or marble banana chocolate cake.
At MudHen, which brews its own beer but offers a full bar and dining menu, diners can choose between baked scallops or crispy Brussels sprouts for appetizers. Entree options are steak Oscar, chicken marsala and sesame ginger salmon, and the desserts are a classic root beer float or stuffed churro.
“Our Restaurant Week menu is handcrafted with every detail prepped in-house,” Sirirat said. “We love using fresh ingredients to create something new and special; dishes that are unique and not available on our regular menu.”
Sirirat agreed with the importance of having this type of program in the offseason. It’s a boost to revenue at local establishments and keeps small businesses afloat, allowing them to remain one of the top reasons people visit shore towns.
Sirirat would, however, like to see the dinner menu price increase from $40. That price has remained the same each year, he said, despite rising costs in food and employment.
“Adjusting the price would help restaurants continue to offer high-quality dishes while maintaining the value of the deal,” Sirirat said.

The Wildwood chamber has planned dates for three Restaurant Weeks next year.

They will be held June 15-19, Aug. 24-28 and Nov. 28-Dec. 7 and will include breakfast ($10 per person), lunch ($15 per person) and dinner ($40 per person) menus. To register for those weeks, call 609-729-4000 or email hello@gwcoc.org.
