Since it’s inception, MudHen Brewing Co. has proudly supported our Veterans. Through restaurant discounts and events, we continue to support various projects in our community that benefit our local veterans. This past Saturday, May 21st, we hosted our annual Salute to the Veterans.
The event included a live broadcast recording of the Welcome Home Veterans Radio WIBG 1020 AM WIBG 101.3 FM hosted by Joe Griffies. This is a weekly radio show is from 2PM-4PM, every Saturday with rotating guests. May 21st is the third Saturday in May, also known as Armed Forces Day, where we recognize and honor those who are currently serving in a branch of our armed forces.
Armed Forced Day was first celebrated in 1950, soon after the branches of the military were united under the leadership of the U.S. Department of Defense. In his proclamation marking the day, President Harry S. Truman called upon fellow citizens to “display the flag of the United States at their homes on Armed Forces Day and to participate in exercises expressive of our recognition of the skill, gallantry, and uncompromising devotion to duty characteristic of the Armed Forces in the carrying out of their missions.” On this day, and every day, MudHen proudly flies our American flag just above our patio to show our respect for those who have served.
A special thanks to Stateside Vodka who graciously donated to this event. $1 for every Stateside drink sold was donated back to Veterans and the Run to Remember.
Featured on this past week’s show was Bill Davenport, the man behind the “Run to Remember” taking place Sunday, May 29th at 9 a.m. This is a 5k Beach Run or 1 Mile Walk, this year honoring Patrick Corcoran and the 74 Lost Sailors. The proceeds from this run fund the building of the North Wildwood Gold Star Families Memorial. MudHen Brewing Co. will be present for the run and donating 10% of our brewpub’s proceeds from that day back to the Run to Remember.
