On October 6th, 2024, the sun shone brightly over MudHen Brewing Company as we welcomed oyster lovers from near and far for our 3rd Annual Oyster Festival in Wildwood! Partnering with Cape Harbor Shells, we transformed our venue into a shell-tastic paradise where flavor, fun, and philanthropy came together in perfect harmony.
From 1 PM to 5 PM, guests indulged in the freshest Cape May oysters, expertly served and paired with our signature MudHen brews. The air was filled with laughter, music, and the delightful sounds of shucking as patrons savored the tastes of the season. Our attendees not only enjoyed delicious oysters but also contributed to a great cause, as 10% of all oyster purchases were donated to the Cape May Whale Watch & Research Center’s New Jersey Non-Profit.
The festive atmosphere was amplified by the lively sounds of Loose Ends Duo, who entertained guests from 1 PM to 5 PM with their upbeat tunes. The music provided the perfect backdrop for friends and families to gather, share stories, and create lasting memories.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly our Amateur Shucking Contest! With tickets priced at $30, participants received a beer token, entry into the contest, and automatic entry into a MudHen basket raffle. The excitement peaked as competitors took to the patio at 2 PM, ready to showcase their shucking skills in multiple rounds leading up to the thrilling final showdown at 3 PM. The top four contenders battled it out, shucking half a dozen oysters for a chance to win four tickets for a Whale, Bird & Dolphin Watch trip and a coveted MudHen hat.
Our shucking contest not only celebrated the skill and enthusiasm of our participants but also fostered a sense of community among oyster aficionados. Each shuck and cheer contributed to the lively spirit of the festival, reminding us that events like these bring us all together.
