Special Olympics of New Jersey Post-Plunge Party

Every January, an army of swimmers costumed in sequins and feathers storm the beach to plunge into the freezing Atlantic Ocean. The Wildwood Polar Plunge is quite a sight to behold but it so much more than a flash mob who have temporarily lost their sanity. The focus of the event is to raise money for the New Jersey Special Olympics which is held annually at the Wildwood Convention Center. Special Olympics New Jersey provides year-round sports training, competition, leadership opportunities and health screenings to more than 25,000 athletes just from the funds raised from the plunges alone.

MudHen Brewing Company hosts an annual post-plunge party offering complimentary hot chocolate and live music so participants can shake off the chill and get cozy. Sciarra Restaurants consisting of Mudhen Brewing Company, Dogtooth Bar & Grill and Poppi’s Brick Oven donate a portion of their sales from to the Special Olympics of New Jersey.
